What are the Limiting Beliefs you have about yourself that hold you back?
- A belief is a feeling of certainty about something even though it is not a fact and cannot be proven, we often act from our beliefs as if they were a fact.
- Limiting beliefs originate from our childhood and follow an event, experience or comment that we attached meaning to and then believed in.
- Beliefs are formed through repeated thoughts, and the only reason they hold any weight is because we decide or agree that they are true.
- Most limiting beliefs are formed unconsciously, without our knowing about it. One of the most common limiting beliefs is, "I'm not good enough".
4 Steps to breaking the pattern of your limiting beliefs
- Notice the thoughts and limiting beliefs you have about yourself (e.g. I'm not good enough, I can't do this, I haven't got anything interesting to say, Im stupid, I'll never find the right partner)
- Question and challenge your conclusions – Is this belief based on fact or interpretation?
- Create a new more empowering belief (e.g. I can do anything I put my mind to, I have a wealth of experience to share with others, I am successful)
- Take some kind of action to test your assumptions and support your new empowering belief by collecting new fact based evidence.
Remember that awareness is the first step to breaking old habits that no longer serve us!
